Hey people,
Went out last night to the thames with my wife.
As we have no car yet we walked to the highbury bridge section. Fished under the bridge for a while but to no avail so we headed down river towards the adelaide bridge. Stopped of at a spot about five minutes down stream of the highbury bridge a thats when it happened. Casting my mepps spinning into the middle of the river boom my rod bent double and "alright" i was in to my first river thames fish. I brought her in and tried again, boom rod bent double and another was on there. This happened 3 times and i managed to land all 3. I was well pleased with my catch so decided to call it a night.
We will sure go back there again when we have more time.
Ps I thought I'd better but a pic of my first river thames fish, (the monster that bent the rod double), to show you all so here she is! (I guess its a smallmouth but please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm still getting use to the different species)

Hi guys,
that was a wee one, but, went out again last night down to Sarnia on my mates boat. got there at about 8.30 and started fishing. Now every time I've gone with him he always catches a bass. Well this time was no exception. We went to get muskies but ended up chucking a few lures for the bass. He went and caught a 3-3 1/2lb silver bass. Me and his brother were well gutted as we'd had no bites all night. I must have gone through nearly all the lures, spinner bait and flippin jigs I had, after getting advice to say they go for white plugs or minnows. So I used all the white lures I had and nothing. Then at about 11.30 I decided to put on a rubber jerk shad, white and pink in colour. I had one knock and missed it. 'Well thats it for me' I thought, until my next cast when WHACK a fish it the shad and lept out of the water. Get the net I yelled and after a short fight there I was standing, shacking with adrenaline looking at my first largemouth bass. I didn't have any scales so couldn't weigh it and my camera had a flat battery so couldn't take a photo until I got home.
Here she is so if you think you can tell how much it weighs please let me know. (I think its about 2 1/2 3ish)Attachment: SSPX0029.JPG (Downloaded 32 times)

SiC, You catchin' a nice size fish and I'm not too sure if it's all there ...
I've been hearing about invasion species a lot lately... just wondering if the largemouth got crossed with a goldfish. (largemouth +/- goldfish)
So there you have it folks 2.8 lb largefish from Sarnia
PS. SiC, you still got hooks left on them lures!?!

Hi Guys,
Yeah sorry about the picture quility, it was taken on my rubbish camera phone about 4 hrs after I caught the thing so it had discoloured slightly. We did cook it up last night actualy and it tasted reeeaal good. Its the first time I'd tried it. Coked it up with some onions and lemons and garlic for about an hour all wrapped in foil. The meat just feel off the bone it was well nice.
There was a bonus that came from it and that is the wife asked when I was going again cuz she wants some more. So sounds like as long as i don't come home empty handed I good to go when ever, right on.
ps I'll make sure I have my camera with a charged battery next time.
