  Sorry to hear of such an accident. Hope  all come out of it OK.   
That gas dock was one of my hang-outs  when I was in my teens. A friend had a job pumping gas and  cutting the grass of the power boat club. It was much different then  there was no building only a tin shed. I would help dock the boats  that came in for gas. I can remember him making sure there was no one  on board except for the captain when he was refueling.
