Whitie Action To-Day
« on: May 14, 2012, 05:33:44 PM »
Headed out to Fox this AM.

The Lake was smooth like glass.

First stop nothing, So off we go.

Next stop the Lowrance says 'Fish Here"

And I had  found a hungry school.

Had one on in less than 10 min but lost him half way up!!  I hate loosing 'em But I Really HATE loosing the first one!!

But 10 min later I have one in the boat and for the next hour it was pretty steady.

The Fish were more schooled up today than Sat.

Sat about 300 boats and today about 30.

So not so many "Anchor Bombs" to spook em LOL

Meegs and the Hump Back Creeper did the catching 74FOW

However with the Zero wind and the Sun the Midge Flies were thicker than the Fish, It took me an hour to clean the boat.

After the Whitie quota was done I tried higher in the water column for a Laker, Had a couple of chasers but none commited!!

Couple from today

Congrats again Rick :)  Beauties!!

Question: What weight anchor are you using? (I want to avoid the drifting as much as possible - on Saturday we drifted a lot making it tough to bottom jig).

~~~~tasty looken supper guest bud, when you cooken them. Bob, the weight of the anchor is important, but so is the lenght of rope, whem I'm out there, I like to have almost 150' for 90' of water. the lesser the angle the letter, too steep and you'll pop the anchor every time a wave hits you.
Hey Bobby
I am cheating a bit with the anchor!!  One of my new toys is the Minnkota with I-Pilot and "Spot Lock"
No more 150' anchor rope, 15' of Chain and a 10 lb Bruce.
Agree that I-Pilot anchor feature was meant for jigging whities. Love my I-Pilot.
The other feature I really like is no more markers to show you the drop off. Other boats driving by don't see a marker eaither.
Congrats on the fish Rick . I would like some more info on that I pilot . Is that the one that keeps you anchored so to speak on the spot ?. We have had the old auto pilot for years and want to upgrade . The new ones out now look like the cats meow and I want the one that just keep you on the spot .
Hey TD
Yes they use the GPS to keep the TM within  5' of where you set the "Spot"
So far it has been great for vertical jigging for WhiteFish.
No more dealing with 150' of Anchor line!!
Hey Dirk
It works as advertised.   Get the Bow positioned into the wind and with no forward movement hit the Spot Lock.
If you hit Spot Lock and you are moving forward the MinnKota will try and reverse the boat and in a good wind it will get turned around!!  So to speak!!
Mine is wired with 6G,  2 wires direct from the battery.
