GoFishOnt Hardwater Challenge 2012

Official Rules

1.    Safety First!!  You are responsible for your own safety while out on the ice. Please take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety. The coordinators, sponsors, or other participants are not responsible for your safety.

2.    Open to all registered members of www.gofishont.com , guests, and general public.

3.    Entry fee must be paid prior to going on the ice for the purposes of participating

4.     All entrants will be required to sign a Waiver of Liability. GoFishOnt, its owner, volunteers, members, promoters, sponsors, tournament directors, and organizations assisting in the tournament operation are not responsible for injuries, deaths, damages, liability, theft, fire, or any loss of any kind to participants and their equipment. All entrant agree to hold harmless anyone connected to these tournaments. Each entrant upon signing an entry form will state that they have read, and understand the rules provided, and by signing the entry form is in fact signing a waiver form. Entry forms must be signed in order to participate.

5.     All provincial and ministry laws must be obeyed, with respect to fishing regulations for the particular area, equipment used for transport, and including those laws regarding fishing licenses, slot sizes and legal possession limits.

6.     Allowable species include Whitefish, Lake Trout, Pike, Pickerel (Walleye), Perch

7.    All fish must be caught the day of the tournament, between the hours of 8:00am and 3:30pm, February 26, 2012 in Lake Simcoe, by eligible participants. All participants must start and end their day from the Beaverton Harbour. You are encouraged to fish as a group, but it is not mandatory. The organizers will have a preferred destination approximately 10 minutes out from Beaverton Harbour.

8.    Fish will be measured by weight using only an official digital weigh scale(s) common for all fish for both events. One group of up to 5 perch (per event) may be included and will be measured together as a single weight. Perch must be a minimum of 8 inches to be included.

9.    In the event of a tie, length of fish will be used to break the tie. In the event there is still have a tie, then girth will be measured.

10.If you intend to catch and release fish for the tournament, you must provide a means of keeping the fish alive and healthy in fresh water until such time a judge can come over to measure your fish. Health of the fish takes all priority. One or more judge will be present on the ice and will try to record your fish as soon as reasonably possible. Max possession limits prevail for scoring whether you keep the fish or release it.

11. In the event of inclement weather, unsafe conditions or fewer fish caught than the total of prizes available, the judge(s) reserve the right to double up prizes, modify the format, or use random draws to distribute remaining prizes, at their discretion. The goal is to keep it fair to everyone, and distribute as many prizes to as many participants as reasonable.

12. The event is run by volunteers, and they will be allowed to participate and win prizes like any other member. They will have no advantage over other members in the tournament.

13.  We reserve the right to add, remove, or change any rules as deemed necessary to facilitate a fair and fun tournament for all.

14.  Fishing times will be Feb 26, 2011 from 8am to 3:30pm. All fish must be recorded by 3:30 pm.

15.  Prize list subject to change. Prizes advertised are promised or confirmed from the respective sponsors at time of publication and could change for any reason.

16.  Prizes will be distributed that evening at a local restaurant (see website for details).

17. The Grand Prize will be determined by Random draw of all eligible entrants.

18.  Any person(s) caught cheating, misrepresenting their catch, not following the rules, or otherwise not acting in a responsible manner to the benefit of the tournament, will be disqualified, not eligible for any prize, and banned from future events. No refunds will be issued to any person disqualified.

19.  Decisions of the judge(s) shall be final.
