Thanks for the post. I had no idea that the discharge rules on the American side permitted pumping overboard outside the 3-mile limit. No Discharge rules have been in effect on our side as far back as I can remember. Seems to me that playing catch-up on this issue is long overdue.
Many years have passed since I was young enough to know everything!!

  Even  though its legal I just can't believe that people would dump raw  sewage into a lake. There must be pump out facilities where they get  fuel. Why would you do such a thing?

I find it very hard to believe that anyone would perform such an act (law or no law) ...


Here's a couple more news articles that discuss actions to be addressed by the state (EPA), plus a list of associated public health risks related to untreated sewage ...
Like everything else in todays economy, it seems that "funding to support" is on a short list or non-existent  :(
