Turtle Nesting Season is Here!The 2011 turtle nesting season has begun, and with it come encounters with turtles crossing roads and nesting in yards and driveways.
“Currently, seven of Ontario's eight turtle species are listed as
at risk,” said Scott Gillingwater, Species at Risk Biologist with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. “Even our most common species, the Midland Painted Turtle, is experiencing declines in some areas.”
