More Government Nonsense
« on: December 12, 2011, 02:52:14 PM »

Went into Service Ontario today to apply for a Photo OHIP card. Mine is the old red one - still legible - but I thought if best to replace.
After completing the application, they asked for 3 pieces of ID - credit card/Drivers Lic/Birth Certificate. Well my birth certificate was a paper one issued over 20 some years ago and it disintegrated (you were not allowed by the gobermint to laminate.....lmao).
So with a Canadian Passport in hand and 53 pieces if ID - they rejected the Canadian Passport :o .
It was not "an identifyable piece of ID"............... ??? ?? I put this in the context of a typical scam by the government. If they are so concerned about Fraud when/if they catch these crooks drop them in jail for 5 or 10 years instead of present standard - of a few minutes.

Umm I need to spend $$$ to aquire a BCertificate to apply for this new card.......
The irony in all this is they cannot swipe the old OHIC card.

I will keep my old OHIP card - end of rant.
Beware though if you are going in to apply you "may" need a Birth Certificate.

Update: I should have mentioned - the clerk phoned Service Ontario direct for me and was told that a BCertificate is what they want.

Sifting thru www.health.gov.on.ca their printed material clearly shows a Passport is support of Identity.................................... Do these people actually get paid - better still do they even read there own requirement forms. Somehow I doubt it. I'm heading back there tomorrow with the Gobermint Forms. Heck what's 10 bucks in fuel and 2 hours of my time ::) .

hey Bobbyb; Went in to return a couple of lincese plates couple of days ago. The Lady ask me for my Drivers License and she Told me Its expires in February ,I ask if she could renew it now and she said yes than I remembered my Health card was expiring too and she said she could do that one too. No extra ID what so ever. All done by just returning a couple of Plates with no hustle.
