Back in October or early November (I think) last year I ordered a custom-made (to my specification, that is, like  length, action-type, etc) ice fishing rod from Rolly at Rovic Custom Rods. The rod was made and ready for me to pick up, but then I was on a business trip, and then it was the long holiday season. Until just a couple of days ago I (finally!:-)) picked up the rod.

I like this rod very much, and hopefully it will land me a couple of (or more) lakers, whitefish, walleyes,... on ice!:-)

I believe quite a few other members on this board also ordered some ice fishing rods from Rolly. If you are looking for a new rod, I highly recommend Rolly:-) His rod making/ordering (with Rovic Custom Rods) info can be found on this board at:

Now pics of the rod I ordered from Rolly:

Great shots of that "custom rod" James. Now that you have it, perhaps we'll get some safe ice.

You know - I just had a thought - maybe thats why we've had no Ice - its been you all along :o - waiting for your Rod - aaaahhhh but now the gods are smiling, you have it, we will have Ice.......

stay safe my friend,

Hi Bobby, yes I am looking forward to the ice for some deep water fish!;-)

PS: I couldn't wait no more so I did a whole day ice fishing at Lake Couchiching (Cooch?), Orillia yesterday (Saturday) looking for perch. Moved on on ice non-stop (started from Port of Orillia, and ended at Tudhope Park), until in the afternoon I (together with 4 other guys) found some jumbos and pike...

Now James, I spent 6 hours on Lake Couch - Tuesday Jan 03, 2012.

I gave out conditions and locations - you must have missed the post.

Walking from the Port of Orillia to Tudhope - wow - long way - great way to lose weight tho.

Anyhow here is the link: Enjoy and keep an eye on GoFish for current reports of a Lake near you,

Hi Bobby, cool link with those pics!

But no, I didn't walk from Port of Orillia to Tudhope! Instead, we walked about 2KM from Port of Orillia, then reutrned to shore, and drove to Tudhope, and then walked onto ice. Again!

:-)
