Lowrance X67C transducer mounting
« on: October 20, 2010, 07:46:49 PM »
I just bought one of these units and i remembered that some of you like to add a foam float to the transducer instead of using the original arm and rod .....I was wondering what everyone`s opinion is , I can`t make up my mind which way to go .....pros and cons please ....thanks guys ...can`t wait to try it out

Hey there baldeagle. I do have the Lowrance and love it. I do not use the rod but do use the arm. What I did was take the rod off and left the stop in the arm. when I drill my hole I set the unit beside and swing the arm out so the cable doesn't rub on edge of hole and then make sure there is enough cable so the tansducer is hanging just below the bottom ice. It makes it easy to pack back up and move from hole to hole. I have been running that for 3 seasons now with no probs. As the ice gets deeper you just need to lengthen cable so it hangs just under the ice.

Good Luck, Peachy

I have one and love it...I dont use the bar, I just drop the transducer with a float and adjust to the ice...very easy to use and operate.
You will love it.
I cant recall all the features, but once I power it up, I can help more...cant wait for the ice!

thanks guys .....i`ve been thinking on the idea myself and i do like to keep the actually sonar unit closer to me ,so the arm may not be the way to go ......at least with the float i can move the unit where ever i want it ....thanks again for the ideas

Wow this recent snowfall here in the Beach really has me thinking of the hard water ....been checking out the new Lowrance, but the wifey says i wasted my money ,cause she already knows there are no fish in the bucket i`m using.......lol....that was just like she didn`t think i needed my clam either, cause she said there was no wind in our living room except for my own.....boy she thinks she is so clever .....lol....wait till i drill a hole in the living room floor testing the power auger .....then we`ll see who is smarter .....lol....have a great day all
