just wondering if anyone has ever used one of the Figure 9 rope grippers.....its a knotless rope attachment .....thought it might be handy for using on the canoe when roping on the roof or just on the boat ....anyone have any thoughts.....http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0032/5752/products/f9large-main_large.jpg?1291674597

I stay completely away from metal components in tieing the canoe or kayak on the roof of the car or truck.
Ravine Rat is the guy to check with on this. He's got a pile of experience in kayaking and canoeing.
Many years have passed since I was young enough to know everything!!

I prefer to use those moving straps, I find them to be the best for a canoe, easy to tighten & easy to remove.      Using a rope requires far to many knots and time.

oh Yeh ....the old granny knot ....i remember them ,they use to have a tougher time getting untied when i used them ......lol...but now they like more modern methods so they don`t break a nail getting untied ..
