Long Range Weather Forcast:

by January 3rd - minus double digit highs/lows reaching minus 20c :)

looks good combined with water temp at 5c (we need 4c for the heavier water to sink) - we are just a few auger holes away :)

I will be heading to Kingston Saturday morning for Christmas. I thought I would take a detour down through Bellville to check out the motel and the launch area then swing back to the 401 at Shannonville. If there’s any ice on the bay I’ll take a few pictures.

From the Official Rules page which is available under the 2012 Hardwater Challenge tab, here's rule number 10:
If you intend to catch and release fish for the tournament, you must provide a means of keeping the fish alive and healthy in fresh water until such time a judge can come over to measure your fish. Health of the fish takes all priority. One or more judge will be present on the ice and will try to record your fish as soon as reasonably possible. Max possession limits prevail for scoring whether you keep the fish or release it.
Good things come, to those who bait.

yes, its all detailed in the rules :) we'll even count your 5 biggest perch. The rules are written for both the quinte and the simcoe meets. Obviously the focus for Quinte is walleye, but pike and perch will count. And I've even see a whitefish pulled up on the ice in Quinte as well.
